Is comhlacht reachtúil é an WDC a chuireann forbairt eacnamaíoch agus shóisialta chun cinn i gcontaetha Dhún na nGall, Shligigh, Liatroma, Ros Comáin, Mhaigh Eo, na Gaillimhe agus an Chláir.

Is iad cúig sprioc straitéiseacha an WDC:

  1. Cuidiú le forbairt chothromaithe réigiúnach trína chinntiú go mbaineann Réigiún an Iarthair leas iomlán as an bpoitéinseal atá aige don fhorbairt eacnamaíoch agus shóisialta.
  2. Na buntáistí a bhaineann le cónaí, oibriú agus dul i mbun gnó i Réigiún an Iarthair a chothú.
  3. Forbairt inmharthana shóisialta agus eacnamaíoch gheilleagar na tuaithe a chothú.
  4. Caipiteal riosca a chur ar fáil do SMEanna agus d’fhiontair shóisialta.
  5. An WDC a rith mar eagraíocht chumasachagus éifeachtach.
