Census 2011 – Principal Demographic Results and Population in the Western Region

 In this report the WDC has analysed a selection of indicators from the first results of the Census of Population 2011, focusing on those of most relevance to the Western Region and the WDC’s work areas.The indicators include population, components of population change, gender, age, dependency ratios, rural and town populations, household size, elderly persons living alone, Irish language ability and frequency of use, housing occupancy, housing stock and vacancy rates and a new indicator on the fuel used in central heating.  It is hoped that this analysis will of interest to local, regional and national policymakers, public representatives and other national and regional stakeholders.
