Our Team

Gillian Buckley is the WDC’s Investment Manager. She has over 25 years’ experience in investing, managing and advising SMEs across a broad range of sectors. She brought the WDC Investment Fund from its concept to reality, negotiating both the original €32m exchequer allocation with the Irish Government, and the legislative framework for its operation. Gillian herself devised the Evergreen Strategy which has allowed the Fund to become self-financing since 2010 and she has overseen the investment of over €44m in 122 SME, community and micro enterprises. She has served, or still serves, on a number of portfolio companies as either a director or observer, including Stamford Devices t/a Aerogen, Selc Ireland, Cambus Medical, Marvao Medical, Neuravi, and Capsos Medical. She is also a director of the Irish Venture Capital Association and a member of the European Venture Capital Association.

Geraldine McLoughlin is a chartered accountant who joined the WDC in 2001 as an Investment Executive. She has over 25 years’ experience of working in both the private and public sector. She received her accountancy training with Deloitte & Touche and has previously worked with Bank of Ireland Asset Management and Multis Ltd, an SME based in Galway City.

Since joining the WDC, Geraldine has been responsible for investing in dozens of SMEs and community enterprises across all sectors. She has served, or still serves, on a number of portfolio companies as either a director or observer, including Ansamed (acquired by Vention), Proxy Biomedical, Propylon, Amatach, and FMC-Tech (acquired by GE).

John Allen, a former Business Bank Manager with National Irish Bank, has been an Investment Executive with the WDC since 2002.

Since joining the WDC, John has been responsible for investing in and lending to dozens of SMEs and community enterprises across all sectors. He has served, or still serves, on a number of portfolio companies as either a director or observer, including Algae Health, Zerusa (acquired by VSI), Cora Tine Teo t/a Kelsius, and Vivasure.

Fiona Regan (Administration), joined the WDC Investment Fund in 2000 having previously worked in the private sector for a number of years. Fiona provides administration support to the investment team and is a first point of contact for the Fund.

Claire Normanly (Administration), joined the WDC Investment Fund in 2006 and provides administration support to the investment team and is a first point of contact for the Fund. Claire held administrative roles in investment banking companies in New York for 15 years and spent ten years at GMIT as School Administrator.
