Hugely successful Expo

2008 marked the third anniversary of the Expo which was held in the Alexander Hotel, Merrion Square, Dublin. Over 500 people attended the expo with over 30 exhibitors participating at this year’s event. Companies with current and future vacancies that exhibited included Abbott, BDO Simpson Xavier, Bank of America, Cisco, IBM, and Lionbridge Technologies.

Despite the current climate, WDC research shows there are many hundreds of jobs to be filled in the Western Region, with vacancies in areas such as engineering, financial services, hospitality, life sciences, sales and customer services. For those thinking about relocating their business or setting up a new one in the Western Region, exhibitors included support agencies such as Enterprise Ireland, Údarás na Gaeltachta, County Development Boards, County Enterprise Boards, innovation centres from third level colleges and other organisations / agencies who provide enterprise support to small businesses.

A new feature of the 2008 Expo was the very successful seminar on “Locating your business in the Western Region”. The seminar included presentations by the state agencies and local authorities that can help with business startup i.e. WDC, Údarás na Gaeltachta, County Enterprise Boards and a presentation by one of the Region’s companies that has availed of the various supports and is currently running a highly successful business in the West of Ireland.Hugely successful Expo
