Ireland West Airport Knock officially opened in 1986. The airport offers a wide range of scheduled and charter destinations across the UK and Europe. Ireland West Airport Knock plays a critical role in connecting business people and tourists, as well as visiting friends and family, to the West, North West and Midlands regions of Ireland and is an essential piece of infrastructure for the region. In recent times, the airport’s position has been enhanced as Ireland’s fourth international airport. There has been significant investment in the facilities at the airport including a new terminal building, increased apron capacity and an enhanced instrumentation landing system. Some of this capital expenditure was part financed by the WDC and as a result there has been a significant increase in the number of passengers coming through the airport. Ireland West Airport Knock employs 143 people currently.
