Mullaghmore Sailing Centre is a community run organisation whose objectives are community development and cross border co-operation through water sports training and competitions at Mullaghmore, Co. Sligo. The group received support from the WDC Community Loan Fund which they used to part fund the building of the sailing centre. The social benefits of the Mullaghmore Sailing Centre include the provision of valuable sailing and team skills training to people of all age groups, backgrounds and abilities including disadvantaged and disabled groups and youth groups. It attracts large numbers of people to the Mullaghmore area thus creating an economic benefit for shops, accommodation providers and restaurants as well as creating direct employment during the summer months. The Centre target cross border sailing clubs for special events and competitions thus forging friendships and links between sailors from North and South and its meeting rooms are used as a community resource during the winter months for land based activities such as computer courses and local meetings.
