This is a community based attraction in Riverstown, Co. Sligo. The Folk Park provides a true experience of rural life and Irish heritage at the turn of the late 19th Century. It is set in the grounds of the authentically restored Millview House, which was originally built in 1873 by George Reid, a farmer, shoemaker and the local church sexton. The Folk Park has a wonderful museum and exhibition hall which houses one of Ireland’s finest collections of rural history and agricultural artefacts. It is open all year round and caters to all ages and group sizes. With funding from the WDC Community Loan Fund, the Folk Park’s impact includes educating visitors in the traditions and skills of long ago, many of whom may stay in the area and help the development of spin off business, e.g. shops, accommodation.
